In the history of women's cricket, Smriti Mandhana breaks the record for the most international runs in a year.

During the maiden Women's ODI against the West Indies on Sunday at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium, Smriti Mandhana, India's top-order batswoman, created history. Mandhana's outstanding performance set a new record for the most international runs in a calendar year in women's cricket across all formats.

Mandhana overtook Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa, who had previously held the record with 1,593 runs at an average of 51.38 in 34 games. A remarkable undefeated 184 versus Sri Lanka in April was part of Wolvaardt's total.
